Over the last 20 years, Nyamezela’s hardware and software solution have been used to successfully implement a substantial number of diverse projects throughout Africa. These projects include:

- Complete metering and billing as well as revenue cycle management for local municpalities.

From the outset, Nyamezela’s philosophy always was that you can only manage that what you have measured. All Nyamezela’s systems are based on the principle that you need to have “redundant” or reconciliation metering at all levels of the electricity or water distribution system. With appropriate back-end software systems in place, this enables the operator to have a complete picture of the total energy or water flows in the system. With this information in hand, the utility management can direct resources to where it will have the most immediate and dramatic impact on the bottom line. To be able to do meaningful reconciliations, Netelek’s meter management system is able to interface to back-end systems of pre-payment vendors to draw in information on sales to pre-payment customers. This information is linked into the reconciliation trees to give a precise and timely indication of any reconciliation mismatches, for immediate action and loss control.
Nyamezela’s offering consists of a suite of software modules that interfaces with dedicated communications equipment and general purpose metering equipment. One of the most important aspects of Netelek’s philosophy is that the utility must never be locked in to one supplier of metering equipment or metering type. To this end Netelek makes use of pulse counters to interface to any standard meter as well as customised interfaces to most popular meters.
